Sorex minutus  – The Eurasian pygmy shrew  is the smallest animal in Sorecidae family. It lives in entire Europe, except on Island, Mediterranean islands and Iberian Peninsula. Pygmy shrew lives in dry habitats. It inhabits fields in the Pannonian Plain and the upper forest border of the mountains. It has been seen in Vojvodina at Fruska Gora Mountain, at Deliblato Sands, at Vršac Hill and near the banks of the rivers Tisa and Danube. Slano Kopovo is the first salt marsh habitat for the pygmy shrew.

Spermophilus citellus   The European ground squirrel, also known as the European souslik, is listed as being „vulnerable“ by the UICN. It  inhabits steppes and pastures, the entire territory of Vojvodina and the mountain pastures of the eastern Serbia. The endangering factor is disappearance of habitats and presence of the sheep on pastures. This species is one of the most endangered in entire Pannonian Plain. The largest number of European souslik in Slano Kopovo was registered in 1974. In the following years that number had a drastic fall. It lives on the pastures at  the south  of Slano Kopovo.
